Cultural Attaches 

In a comment on an earlier post, "Monty" made the contrast between our own Cultural Attache in Washington, he of the classic quote "Do not be first, in greeting the Jews and the Christians."....



and Australia's inimitable Cultural Attache in Britain, Sir Les Paterson, the "farting, belching, nose-picking figure of Dionysiac or Rabelaisian excess".


It's a matter of personal preference, really. Until the drinks cabinet emptied, Sir Les would certainly be the more grateful guest.
